In Real Life at Hannah
Sometimes our statistics don’t say enough about what happens here at The Hannah Center, so we’d like to share a client story with you to help it “get real”.
Kelsey* first came to Hannah through our New Hope jail ministry. After her release, she faced an uphill battle—finding stability, regaining parental rights to her baby, and rebuilding her life. Through persistent love, follow-up, and unwavering support, she completed rehab and took her first steps toward healing.
Her journey through pregnancy was filled with deep valleys. Each time she believed she was on the verge of reclaiming her baby, securing a job, or finding a place to live, circumstances would crumble. She struggled with destructive influences, run-ins with law enforcement and financial hardships—clear reminders that the road to restoration is rarely smooth.
In moments of despair, when helplessness and hopelessness threatened to overtake her, Kelsey would stop in at Hannah. Here, she found a safe haven—a place to vent, be heard, and be reminded of God’s faithfulness. We listened, encouraged, and discipled her, reinforcing the truth of what He had already done in her life. Step by step, she moved forward, even when setbacks threatened to pull her back.
Then came the breakthroughs. One day, she arrived beaming with the news that she had secured a job. Not long after, she excitedly shared that she had an interview for an apartment. She now cherishes time with her baby and eagerly anticipates the day when she will be reunited with her child for good.
Because of Hannah—and the classes she has taken, along with the points she earned—she has been able to shop in our baby boutique for essentials: diapers, wipes, clothes, a bathtub, and more. Each item she carefully selected reinforced her sense of motherhood and her commitment to doing her best.
Today, she radiates excitement. Her life is turning around, and we have had the privilege of walking alongside her on this journey. We see her strength, her perseverance, and most importantly, her hope—hope that empowers her to remain drug-free and press forward toward reclaiming her role as a mother.
